As part of the latest app release, in partnership with yReceipts, we incorporated digital receipts into Mothercare’s fully transactional iPhone, iPad and Android apps.

yReceipts allows receipts for purchases made in-store to be stored within Mothercare’s apps, removing the need for paper receipts. This effort further establishes Mothercare as an omnichannel retailer, offering a seamless and integrated journey between all shopping channels.

In order to save a receipt, sales associates simply scan a QR code within the app on a customer’s device, and the digital receipt is stored within the customer’s account. The custom-designed receipts include product images that link to the product details within the app. The app also incorporates gift receipts, allowing users to easily share receipts with friends and family to accompany a gift from the store. Sales staff are also able to scan in a customer’s email address rather than having to manually enter it, eliminating the margin for human error.

The integration of yReceipts adds another layer of convenience to Mothercare’s apps, allowing customers to access all of their in-store purchase history in one location at the tap of a button, rather than having to dig through their email inbox.

Several additional, behind-the-scenes changes to Mothercare’s hugely successful apps are aimed at providing an improved customer experience while tweaks to the design give the app a freshening up.

Developed in response to customer demand, the retailer’s iPhone, Android and iPad apps have proved highly successful, winning multiple awards. Mothercare’s apps have improved the parenting retailer’s sales since their launch in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively.

“Bridging the gap between online and in store is a huge focus for us as a business and we see mobile as playing a major part in this,” said Chris Bertin, Group Mobile Commerce Manager, Mothercare.

This update is part of Mothercare’s overall vision of engaging their customers in a new way and making their service and offerings more convenient and accessible to parents and parents-to-be throughout the UK.  Among many unique features, the apps offer a baby namer, kick/contraction counters, a pregnancy week-by-week guide, a collection of lullabies, baby tunes and essentials lists.
